Kate Yellow Labrador Retriever Mix Female 5 Months

Meet Kate! We don’t know Kate’s backstory as this sweet little puppy showed up on someone’s doorstep as a stray and wouldn’t leave their property in rural Arkansas. The property owners called Monticello 2nd Chance Fur Dog rescue and said if they didn’t pick her up that day they were going to euthanize her.  Well needless to say, they picked her up without hesitation and brought her to a foster home where she has been settling in for last 2 weeks. Since it’s is difficult to find an adopter in their area that will make her a spoiled indoor dog, Monticello reached out to Brookline to help rehome her. Kate still needs to get up to date on her vaccinations and gain some weight so she will be ready to find a foster or adopter by the end of September. Kate has been in our home for a couple of weeks now. When she first arrived, she was underweight but she is starting to look better now. She tested negative for worms and tick borne illness so hopefully she wasn’t stray for too long.

She is getting acclimated to our 4 resident dogs and the many other foster dogs that are all different breeds, ages and sizes, and is starting to get more confident around them. She likes to watch the other dogs play, and if it’s not too rowdy, she will join in.

She also meet our two cats, and thought if she didn’t look at them, they wouldn’t notice her.

Mac, the cat as always likes to get his rubs in and Kate was a little nervous but took it all in stride.

Kate is a sweet girl and loves to get loved on but initially was scared of getting picked up. Over the last 2 weeks, she has gained trust in us and knows that we are not going to hurt her and is doing much better when we scoop her up.She walks okay on a slip lead, but usually sticks behind me and needs to be encouraged sometimes to keep going. She loves romping around the yard with the other dogs.

She is due to get her boosters for DAPP and Bordetella this week and will  be ready to travel soon! If you’re interested in adopting, get your applications into Brookline now so you will be ready when she is ready!Check back for updates on this cutie pie as we get her ready for travel.
