Meet King!  King is a handsome older gentleman who still has a lot of pep in his step! King was surrender back to Brookline by his adopters. King prefers a quiet and calm household and unfortunately the owners grandchildren recently moved close by and have been visiting often and King is not a fan. The owners felt that it wasn’t fair for King and wanted to find him a quieter spot to enjoy his golden years.  King is now settling into his Brookline foster home.  Please read King’s blog from the bottom up to learn more about this happy senior.

Hi all, King #4 here!

My eye surgery is scheduled for October 29.  I’m hoping I get an eye patch so that I can be a pirate for Halloween, hehe! My vet said I’ll need about 2 weeks to recover, so right now my friends at Brookline decided I’m not quite ready to be adopted while I get ready for surgery and recovery.  It’s okay, though, because my foster mom and dad say I’m such a good boy and life around here is all lounging on the couch, playing ball and going for walks and occasionally staring at foster dad for his food! I might stare, but I don’t try to get it.

I’m actually really good when my humans are eating near me.  I lie quietly next to the table during meals and gaze lovingly at my humans when they decide to bring a snack to their couch!

Keep an eye out for me – pun intended!  I’m be available soon for my forever home!

King #4 here!  I have some exciting news…I met my foster brother this week!

He came home from college for a few days.  Foster mom and dad brought me outside to meet him first since they were told I can be more skittish around men.  I barked at him a lot, but they all ignored me until I went up to my foster brother and sniffed him.  I still had a lot to say to him, but magically, he produced treats!  He told me to “sit” and I did, then I gave him my paw.

A few more treats, a few more paws, then we went inside.  I barked a little bit more because who was this guy coming in my house, right? But a few more treats and sniffs and now we’re besties! He played ball with me, I brought him my stuffy, and he rubbed my belly. So, long story short – treats are the way to my heart!  Also, the foster fam is on their way to the Giants game, so Let’s Go Giants! (hey, they live in North NJ, but if you adopt me I can easily become a fan of your team!)

Last weekend foster mom and dad took me to Ocean City, NJ for the weekend!  We had fun!  We took lots of walks and they said I was a very good boy with people and dogs passing by when walking.  I pretty much ignore everyone, haha!  However, when we stopped for coffee and we sat outside, if dogs passed by, I barked a lot – but I was fine when people approached me.  I sniffed them and was a gentleman. I also drove in the car for 2.5 hours both ways and did great.  I was a little antsy at first, but I settled down on my bed.

This week was beautiful, so I played some ball outside and went for walks.  Here’s a video of me – and a funny still picture with my ears straight up  in the air when I was running!

Hi all!

King #4 here!  Foster mom and dad have scheduled my procedures to remove and biopsy the growth on my eye and the two lipomas (on my shoulder and the large one on my right side).  I’ll go on Monday, September 28.  The vet’s office said I should have my stitches in for about 2 weeks and need to keep a silly cone of shame on me!  My fosters said something about buying a donut – I’m hoping it’s one I can eat, but I suspect it has something to do with my surgery!

Other than that, it’s business as usual.  I visited Ocean City, NJ this weekend and was a very good boy in our AirBNB.  I enjoyed many walks and when people approached me or walked past me, I was calm and gentle.  When I was lying down by my fosters outside a coffee shop, however, I did not like when dogs walked past me.  I barked a lot!  I also did a great job in the car – 2.5 hours each way!  I’ll keep you posted after surgery – please send good thoughts my way!

Hi all, King #4 here! My foster mom and dad took me for a Pup Cup at their favorite ice cream shop this week! I LOVED it!

I also met a few dogs on one of my walks and I was a gentleman. With permission from their humans, we politely sniffed and greeted each other –  foster mom and dad were proud of me!

This weekend I’m visiting Ocean City, NJ so I’ll report on that trip next week. But right now, it’s “night night” time and I’m dreaming of the beach while I snuggle with my favorite teddy stuffy!

Hi all, King #4 here!

My foster mom and dad say that I am such a good boy!  Foster mom went back to school this week so I’ve been hanging with foster dad since he works from home most days.  On the days he does have to go out, I just relax on the couch or chill with my many toys.  They are so impressed with how well I do own my own in the house!  I can be completely trusted. When foster mom gets home or checks on me during lunch, we play a few rounds of fetch in the yard, but I’m okay if she just pops in to let me out to potty.  We go for a walk after dinner on the weekdays and on the weekends we’ve been going for a morning and evening walk.  I’m really easy about my day and I’m just happy to be with my people!

Hi Everyone, this is King!

I’ve been with my foster mom and dad (Pam & Doug) for 4 days now and I’m settling in so nicely!  It took me 2 whole days to get comfy on the couch (not sure why I waited so long!)

I love to take to go for walks and although I’m a bit strong on my leash, they say I’m manageable. My absolute favorite thing to do is play ball in the yard!  I can go and go and go, but when I’m done, I stand with my ball and know to go to the door to go inside – and of course I take my ball with me!

Even though I’m happy with my crate (just say “King’s House” and I go right in!) my foster did a test run out of the crate today.  She left me alone in the house for 50 minutes and I was the best boy!  When she came back, I was happily lounged on the big, comfy couch.  She left calming music on for me with a pretty scene on the TV.  It was very relaxing!  When she returned, she had a brand new bone for me!

My nights have been pretty good – I’ve been waking up once during the night to drink lots of water so now they keep a bowl in the upstairs hallway with the light on so I can help myself without going downstairs.  I’ve started sleeping in the bed – it’s called a KING size for a reason, right?

I’m going to the vet tomorrow to get my eye checked.  Fingers crossed it’s just something a little medicine can help!My foster mom and dad just keep calling me the sweetest boy.  I’ve put my very best paw forward!

King had a great first day with us!  He loves playing ball and we’ve had several catches in the yard.  He also enjoys walks and we’ve been on 3 so far since we brought him home yesterday. He slept in our bedroom last night and woke up once to go out and drink lots of water. King has a growth on his eyelid and we will get in touch with a vet tomorrow to get it checked.  It doesn’t seem to bother him and so far he’s been a gentle, happy boy.  We know he’s decompressing and needs time, but so far he has been such a good boy.

Nine year old King is a handsome older gentleman who still has a lot of pep in his step!  King loves to play ball – that along with belly rubs are his favorite part of the day.

He also loves his stuffed toys and proudly carries them around, as if to say “catch me if you can”!  And spring poles are fun!

This charming guy is looking for a quiet home where he can be the center of attention and play to his hearts’ content.King loves being with his people.  He is crate trained, and readily goes into “King’s house” if asked.  He loves to take walks, though he does need to work on his leash skills.  He is reliable uncrated and will entertain himself with toys and filled kongs.King is especially drawn to women, though he will warm up to men in time.  He is not a fan of cats, and prefers to be “king of the hill”!  He prefers a quiet home where he can chill.  King would be ideal for someone looking for a guy who loves to play ball, then is happy to get some treats, lots of pats and snuggle time.  This sweet boy is ready to enjoy his retirement years!
