Paul Black Labrador Retriever Mix Male 1.5 Years Old ID#3913
Meet Paul! Paul was roaming the streets with his 2 siblings Mary and Peter and got picked up by animal control and was in a shelter for 10 months in Arkansas. Paul found himself on the euthanize list for his uncanny ability to get out of his pen there. Monticello 2nd Chance Fur Dogs Rescue didn’t want to let this young, handsome guy suffer that fate so they picked up the trio and got them into foster homes in AR. Both Paul and Mary tested positive for heartworm and were treated in their foster home in AR, and are now heartworm free. As loving, indoor homes are hard to find in that area of Arkansas, Monticello reached out to Brookline to help re-home Mary and Paul. Mary was adopted through Brookline and now Paul is looking forward to his opportunity to also find his forever home! Please read Paul’s blog from the bottom up to learn more about him while in his Brookline foster home.

Paul is a very loving pup who bonds quickly. When we had a few visitors to our house, Paul acted very shy. However, around my husband and me, he was comfortable, even though he had only known us for about eight hours, haha!I can definitely see how having another dog around is helpful for Paul. He gets along with Rio (his foster host 😊), and the more time they spend together, the more they are starting to play.
They enjoyed a nice walk around our neighborhood this morning.
Paul is also slowly getting to know our cats. Since the cats choose to be out and around Paul so much, I think they are feeling comfortable with him.
Paul is a handsome pup! He is eating and drinking well and seems very healthy. Yesterday, he was understandably exhausted after the long trip from Arkansas and all the new changes he is experiencing. Today, I got to see him race around the yard and have some fun!
There are a few things we’ll need to work on, with jumping up and invading personal space being the two most notable. He is adapting well to his new surroundings, and we are happy to host this sweet guy!

Paul is arriving from Arkansas on October 31! Please stay tuned for more updates once he settles into his foster home.
Paul did well in his Arkansas foster home. He lived with many dogs of all breeds, sizes and personalities and did well with them all. Paul likes to play chase and wrestle with other dogs.
Paul was cat tested in AR. He was curious but respectful of the cats so should do well with dog savvy cats with a controlled introduction.
Though he hasn’t been walked much at his foster home in AR, he walks pretty nicely on leash on his trips to the vet.
Paul is a medium sized boy weighing in at 48lbs.Paul loves hanging out with his people and loves getting attention and pets. He is very sweet and good natured and should acclimate quickly to his forever home with love and attention.
