It’s been nearly a full week now. Stormy was busy but still found time to relax. She met two young kids 3 yrs old and 1 yr old. She was so wonderful with them, sweet and gentle and just licked them, which elicited many giggles. She has also spent some time learning how best to lounge around from the foster dogs. She tries hard to do it exactly as they do.

After the first few days, FM had to go to work. Stormy was disappointed to be in the crate, but she was happy that the other dogs were near by for moral support. Most days FM takes everyone on as many short walks as possible. Stormy walks wonderfully on leash and really enjoys her walks. She will even get some pep in her step once in a while and trot along for a bit. She also had a visit to vet for some vaccines and many, many pets. She may have tipped the scales at 114 lbs, but she did it with her head held high. Good girl Stormy.

She has many more short walks in her future as she works to whittle down her middle. She has also realized that dog beds are comfy. She will curl up in one whenever she can. She will also get up on the furniture if allowed. She doesn’t let her size stop her.

Stormy is very smart too. She continues to keep us on our toes. So far she has opened a kitchen drawer and a refrigerator door by herself. The drawer has been child locked and we keep a close eye on the fridges. We think she’s likely not happy with the weight management food and lack of special treats, and is foraging on her own. We tell her it’s for her own good.  Until next time…..off for another walk we go.

Stormy has been in foster care for one full day, yet it seems like much longer. She seems more social and outgoing than many farm girls. Within the first couple hours, Stormy was trying out different chairs on the front porch. She just wants to be part of the group.

Stormy walks very nicely on a leash and is learning that walks are fun. She has already proved that a full flight of stairs are no issue for her, despite her full-figure size. Stormy is living with two fur fosters siblings and has proved to be dog friendly and kid friendly. Cats are still a work in progress.

Come back to watch Stormy flourish as we learn more about her, and she learns about life in a home.
