Meet Sunshine! This very friendly, social and super sweet purebred black Labrador was surrendered by her owners to Brookline.  The family loved Sunshine but they had to make the hard decision to let her go as she has hip dysplasia and the medical costs to help her were more than they could afford. She is good with children, dogs and lived with a cat. Sunshine is now getting the help she needs in her Brookline foster home. Please read her blog from the bottom up to learn more about her.

Sunshine continues to be the very bestest girl! She loves spending time outside, playing nicely with her foster siblings, and soaking up all the love she can get from her human foster sister. She hasn’t had any accidents, gets along wonderfully with the other dogs, and is just an incredibly sweet girl.Sunshine #3 Black Labrador Female 7 Months Old ID#3807Sunshine wants to send a big thank-you to Brookline for her foster care package! She absolutely loves the toys and treats.

She did great at her vet appointment, too. Everyone loved her! She rode beautifully in the car and let the vet do all the necessary poking and prodding without a single protest.Sunshine #3 Black Labrador Female 7 Months Old ID#3807We are now waiting to hear from the orthopedic surgeon to schedule a consultation about her hips. In the meantime, Sunshine isn’t letting anything keep her from enjoying life. Sunshine is a six month old black Lab puppy with hip dysplasia, but she certainly doesn’t let her hip issues slow her down. She has fit in seamlessly with our resident pups and my five-year-old and is a true sweetheart.

Sunshine is a typical puppy who loves playing with stuffies, chewing on her favorite chewies, and sniffing around the yard. At the same time, she is remarkably calm and gentle for such a young pup. She enjoys playing with the other dogs, although we make sure things don’t get too rough. Her favorite activity is a good game of “bitey face,” which lets her join in while lying on the ground.Sunshine #3 Black Labrador Female 7 Months Old ID#3807She has had very few accidents and can make her way down the few stairs to the yard. Sometimes, though, she needs a helping hand getting back up. At night, she sleeps soundly in her designated space, where she has a cozy bed for snuggling.Sunshine #3 Black Labrador Female 7 Months Old ID#3807We’re already enjoying getting to know this girl. Sunshine has a vet appointment on Monday, so stay tuned as we learn more about this sweet girl!

Beautiful and sweet Sunshine received her Rescue Ride this morning from Quarryville (lots of buggies around) to Lancaster to meet her foster mom. Sunshine #3 Chocolate Labrador Female 7 Months Old ID#3807Her daughter is going to be very excited to meet her. Many thanks to our foster volunteer for taking her into her home!Sunshine #3 Chocolate Labrador Female 7 Months Old ID#3807The surrendering family has 5 children ranging in age from 1-11yrs old. The kids were very sad to see her go. Sunshine #3 Chocolate Labrador Female 7 Months Old ID#3807Sunshine has severe hip dysplasia. I am hopeful we can help her on the way to living a good life.
