Walter

black labrador retriever Sitting out back watching Walter do Walter things this morning – thought I’d share an update with everyone
.
Walter has turned out to be the perfect dog. The boys are really enjoying him; Ian in particular is head over heels. They routinely cuddle together on the floor. If you know of any cloning services please let me know (I think Erica is tired of hearing me talk about cloning him) 😂😂

He still loves to fetch the ball or frisbee. I’ve taught him how to catch but he’s still a bit clumsy. We are anxious to get him to a pond now that the weather is nicer; wondering what kind of swimmer he’ll be. We are learning he gets hot pretty quickly, so this summer will be interesting.

He’s surprisingly good at keeping himself occupied. He has a habit of running under the bushes and trees in the backyard when he gets the zooms so Erica trimmed all the branches up to make it safer. He loves weaving through ALL the bushes and pines – it’s not something I’ve seen labs do before but it’s impressive to watch.
black labrador retrieverHe doesn’t take the stairs out back too often – he’s either jumping off the top to go chase a critter or he just jumps all the way up when coming in. He’s got pogo springs for feet. We have an eternal dirt patch at the base of the patio from all his deck jumping.

We’ve slowly started to trust him off leash while we are out front. You can see the happiness when he’s out “free” with us. His recall skills are fantastic.

We haven’t weighed him in months but he’s probably close to 70# now. We really want to find him a brother through Brookline. One day soon…
