Trapper Yellow Labrador Retriever Male 13 Years Old ID #3690
Hi everyone, my name is Trapper. I’m a 13-year-old young yellow lab, looking for my forever home. I posted some pictures of me so you can see what a good boy I am. I lived with my first family since I was a puppy, but my dad passed away, and my mom said she is “not a dog person.” So, I couldn’t stay with her any longer. I was a good boy and was house-trained. I always let my dog mom know when I wanted to go out by barking. We went on walks each day just so I could pee and poop. Leaving the only home I have ever known made me sad, but now that I’m in a new place, I think it’s all going to be for the best. Please read the blog from the bottom up.

Hi everybody, it’s just me, Trapper.
It’s been a few days; did ya miss me?
The last few days have been a real blast, literally. FD had to run a bunch of errands on Friday, but he doesn’t want to leave me alone yet. A kind neighbor named Deanna came over on Friday so FD could get done what he had to. Deanna took me to her house. I was a good boy but had some diarrhea on the way over to her house. She was nice to me and gave me some boiled rice. She even put a few pieces of chicken in it. YUM! She told FD what happened, and he got concerned for me. The vet gave FD new meds for my arthritis. FD looked up the meds, and sure enough, diarrhea was a side effect. He stopped giving it to me and told Aunt Deb. He then gave me some canned pumpkin with my meals. It helped and tasted good. FD takes good care of me. I told my vet that I love him and I know he loves me.
I am now sleeping through the night and haven’t woken FD up during the night for over a week. However, one night I started to bark, and FD thought my bark sounded like a distress bark, so he got up, and sure enough it was. I was sleeping on the carpet at the end of his bed, and somehow, part of my body got stuck under the end of the box spring, and I couldn’t get up. FD reached down and slid my body out from under the box spring. Once he made sure I was ok, he looked at me and called me a “knucklehead,” asking me how in the heck (and he didn’t say “heck,” he said “he”” double hockey sticks). Can you believe it? I was trapped under this monster with my life passing before my eyes, and he calls me a “knucklehead. ” Mon Dieu!
The weekend was pretty quiet. Mailman Bob came in on Saturday and brought me a treat. I like it when he stops in with FD’s mail. FD gave me a doggie ice cream cup on Saturday night before we went to bed. This one was peanut butter flavored. It was delish. Again, that night, I found myself in the clutches of the monster box spring. FD got up, laughed a little when he saw my predicament, and then rescued me from that Goliath. FD is my hero, but this time he asked me, “hey duffus, how did you get caught under the box spring again? “There are 2 comfy dog beds in the bedroom, and you choose to sleep on the floor at the end of the box spring.” “I do because I want to be near my FD. Well, DUH!
I am getting better at hand signs like “down” when FD wants me to lay down to get me to be calm. He is understanding me better. I bark not just to bark, but when I need something like my water bowl refilled, my dinner, or I want to go out, or I want his attention. Sometimes he thinks I bark because I am in some pain. He also uses “down” when he wants me to go down the 4 deck steps to the yard to do what dogs do, instead of peeing on the deck. I think I’m doing pretty good for a 13-year-old lab.
My dog walker took me for a walk on Monday evening. I loved it and was very excited to go. She even put my new harness on with my Disney leash. I looked pretty snazzy with my fall bandana.
She told FD that I was very good on my walk.
FD calls me a good boy quite often. Well, DUH, I am a good boy. I just want some love and caring in my life. Any family who adopts me will have a good boy who loves people, walks well on a leash, lets you know when I need something, and sleeps through the night. I am such a prince.

Hello friends,
I’m your Vitameatavegamin dog. Are you tired, run-down, or listless? Do you pop out at parties? Are you unpoopular? Well, are you? The answers to all your troubles are in this little bottle. Vitametavegamin contains vitamins, meat, vegetables, and minerals. Yes, with Vitameatavegamin you can spoon your way to health. Oops, sorry about that; FD was watching Lucy, and that just stuck in my brain. Well, now back to me.
Well, wait till you hear this? Are you sitting down? Good. Well, here goes; last night I started barking and kept barking for almost 2 1/2 hours. FD was on the phone and kept trying to get me to calm down and lie down. He wasn’t paying attention to me, and I was having none of that. At one point he finally said “Shudupyo.” He sounded like Archie Bunker, but I was undeterred. I had something to say, and I wasn’t backing down. When FD got off the phone, he looked at me and called me a “little stinker.” The nerve—can you believe it? Well, when he walked into the kitchen, he saw why I was barking; my water bowl was empty. Boy did he have egg on his face. He filled my water bowl, and I was then happy. I was like, “Now who’s the stinker?” He tried to make it up to me by giving me some treats, and he did say he was sorry, so I guess I’ll forgive him, and I got extra treats out of him. I’m not stupid, ya know.
FD let me outside before we went to bed and settled in for the night. FD was watching TV and couldn’t sleep. At 3:30 AM this morning that “knucklehead” got out of bed and did laundry. He woke me up with his moving around, then asked if I wanted to go out, which of course I did. We finally settled in for the night. Well, my automatic alarm clock did not work this morning. I didn’t wake up until well after 10:00 AM. FD was already up and dressed and was brushing his teeth when I started to bark. I had to go out, and I had to let him know; when a guy has to go, a guy has to go.
After I did what I had to do, I went over to the steps but stopped at that metal thingamajig that was sitting there. I put my 2 front paws on it, sniffed it, and decided, “Nah, I’ll use the steps,” which I did pretty well. Dad keeps trying to get me to try the ramp, and I even heard him on the phone saying that he was going to try lining the rampy thingy with treats. Hey, I know how to grab treats with ease. I’ll get them in 2 shakes of a dog’s tail and still not have to use the rampy thingy.
We had visitors again today: Uncle Ken and the REFRIGERTOR repair man. Boy FD must have bought cheap foreign appliances cause he keeps having repairmen out. Just so my frozen treats don’t melt. The visitors really like me, and what’s not to like? I’m adorable, friendly, cute, and just one heck of a wonderful dog. I’m getting better at listening, even with my hearing a bit off. FD still uses hand signals, which help.
Tonight, after he fed me, he was making a salad, and while I never counter-dive, I’m always around when there’s food to be had. FD was cutting up a cucumber, and he asked me if I wanted to try a piece. Well, yeah; it’s food, isn’t it? He gave me a piece, and I was like, “Eww,” and dropped it on the floor. But then I picked it up and ate it. It was pretty good, and FD gave me a few more pieces. I liked it. I hope FD gives me more things like that, and I’m sure he will.
Well, I gotta go, but I’ll be back. We’ll be heading into bed soon. Lordy, I hope he doesn’t decide to do laundry again at 3:00 AM. I need my beauty sleep, and boy, so does he.
Night, y’all.

Hi Y’all,
It just little ole’ me again, Trapper.
It’s been a pretty good day. I started it by waking FD at 8:30am. I told you I am better than any alarm clock. Once I got FD to put water in my bedroom water bowl; yes, I even have a water bowl in the bedroom in case I get thirsty. I told you I am the prince of the house, and I went over and laid down. Boy, do I have FD wrapped around my little ole’ paw. He loves me, and he knows it, and so do I.
We had visitors today: the dishwasher repairman, who I sat with and supervised while he was fixing the dishwasher. He also was petting and talking to me. Ken also came by today and played tug-o-war with me. I like that game, and I usually win. Ken is working on installing insulation in FD’s garage. FD said it should make it less cold in the winter. Well, duh.
I have been driving FD up the wall today with my barking. I’ve been doing it all day long just for attention. FD knows when I want food, water, or need to go out, but when I want his attention, well, you know the drill. FD has started calling me “Trapper the Rapper.” He breaths a sigh of relief when I lay down and am quiet, which usually lasts about 35 seconds. He also said that he thinks I bark a lot because of my joint pain. Who does he think he is, the dog whisperer?
FD likes to play a game when he gives me a treat. He holds it tight, but I am stronger than he is, and I pull it right out of his hand. I always win when it comes to getting treats. FD has frozen ice cream treats that he gives me too. They are really good. Yesterday it tasted so good that I started to chew the plastic cup it was in. FD finally took it away from me and called me a “knucklehead.” How rude. FD got my new medicine for my joint pain tonight. Hopefully it will help my hind quarters feel better, but even so, I still can move around like I’m an 8-year-old.
I’m still doing pretty good with hand signals. FD says I do well with his hand sweeping motion to go into the bedroom when it’s time to go to bed. As I go down the hall to the bedroom, I turn to see if he’s behind me. I have been sleeping through the night with no barking. FD loves it when I’m asleep.
Well, gotta go. Talk to y’all later.
October 21, 2026
Hi Ho everyone,
It’s me, Trapper. Sorry that I’m just writing to y’all, but I’ve been busy driving my FD crazy, but sometimes in a good way, but he doesn’t think so. I’m basically a good boy but do have a mischievous side. I have such a loud bark and like to scare the delivery people. I just want their attention, but it’s fun to watch their “deer in the headlights” look when I run to the storm door and bark. It tickles me, but FD is usually not amused. FD then has to get the bags through the slightly open storm door while he keeps me away from the opening and then has to carry them into the kitchen himself. Because he has to use a walker right now, it is not fun for him, but he loves me, so he doesn’t complain; well, not much anyway. LOL
I had to go to the vet last Friday. This time it was the guy doctor. I barked a lot cause I wanted to go home. He was checking out my body, and I wanted to ask him if he was going to buy me dinner now. They took me into a room to get something called an “x-ray.” Just made me more radioactive; I glow for real now. Doctor and Aunt Deb are trying to decide how to proceed with my care. My back legs still bother me, but remember, I am 13 years young (91 in human years) but still have lots of energy. I still like to play tug-o-war.
FD gives me something called Cosequin treats to help with my back legs. Aunt Deb is also bringing over some medicine to help also. My friend Jamie and her family brought over something called a ramp to help me get down the 4 steps into the yard from the deck. I haven’t tried it out yet, but FD thinks I am getting up the steps better. Sometimes, I am a little tired of the steps and just do what dogs do right on FD’s recently refurbished deck. FD is not happy with me when I do that, but when you gotta go, you gotta go. He is teaching me to immediately go down the steps. He uses his hand to show “down” and tells me “down.” He says I’m getting pretty good at listening to the command.
The vet also gave FD eye drops, as I had a little eye infection. FD has to put those dang drops in my eye 3 times a day. I don’t like them. FD knows this and bribes me with treats. He doesn’t fool me, as I wasn’t born yesterday and didn’t just fall off the turnip truck. My head, neck, and upper body strength are really strong, but FD usually wins, well, most of the time.
I’m doing really well at bedtime and normally sleep through the night, but like clockwork at 8:30 AM I wake FD up to give me a drink of water and let me go out. I’m better than his alarm clock.
We sometimes get visitors here. Mailman Bob brings FD’s mail up to the house and normally comes in to say hello for a minute. I like when he comes by, as he always has a treat for me and pets me and makes a fuss over me. I am special, ya know. Once I am ready for adoption, my adoptive family will be getting a prince.
Well, I’d better say goodnight, as I need my beauty sleep. So does FD, but he really needs to sleep for a week to match my adorableness after just 8 hours. Don’t tell him I said that. So, night y’all.
October 14, 2026
Hi everybody, it’s just me, Trapper; it’s been a while since I wrote last, but my Foster Dad (FD) is always on that dang computer. How’s a guy supposed to write to his fans? I think FD should buy me my own laptop. Anyway, it’s been a roller coaster of fun here. Last Saturday, the dog walkers that Dad hired came to take me for my first walk. I was so excited; when we returned, they told FD that I was such a good boy. I only pulled a little bit once when there was something I wanted to sniff. I loved going for a walk. I was out for about 25 minutes, and for a spry, playful old guy like me, I did really well.
This week I went for 2 walks so far. I love going on walks. I now have a new harness and collar for when I go for walks. I’m like the king of the neighborhood with my new ensemble. The other day, my dog walker brought her 2 grandchildren with her. I did bark just to say hello, but we had fun on our walk. I love the kiddies. When we came home, they each gave me a treat. Last night, Auntie Deb took me for a walk in the evening. I loved it. I pee’d 3 times and pooped twice. I really like those evening walks.
I do like my new house and love my FD. I follow him around a lot, and when I find him, I usually lie down near him.
He’s pretty cool for an old guy like me. I bark at everything, which is good. I let FD know when I need to go out (I love doing it to him around 3:00 AM when he has “bedhead,” but don’t do it all the time; just enough to let him know who’s in charge; LOL). We communicate pretty well. I let him know when I’m hungry or need my water bowl filled (I love water and FD gives me the good stuff he buys by the case), when someone comes to the door, and sometimes just to make sure he’s awake sitting at his desk. I’m kind of a really good watchdog too. He sometimes calls me “Trapper the Rapper.”
I’m getting better at hand signals. I’m pretty good at “sit,” “down” (to lie down), “paw,” and a hand-sweeping motion when FD wants me to go somewhere in the house. I’m a pretty smart guy for my age. I may be 13, but that’s just a number. I don’t act like what some would call an “ole man.”
I’m a funny boy sometimes. Last night Dad gave me a frozen doggie ice cream while we were in the kitchen. It was soooooo good. At one point I picked up the cup and took it to the living room to finish eating it. I heard FD say “not on the new carpet,” and he came over to take it from me and take it back into the kitchen. I was having no part of that. I picked up the whole cup and ran into the den to finish it. I wasn’t going to let him have it until it was all finished, as it was delish. FD just looked at me and said, “You little stinker.” I didn’t care, as I was able to finish my ice cream in peace, and the den doesn’t have new carpet.
I like to play tug-o-war. FD bought me a new one, and we have lots of fun with it. I also have an old one we play with as well.
I am really strong for my age and have good teeth. When FD tries to take it from me. I hold onto it and sometimes even get a better grip. I may be 13 years young, but I do like to play and be around my hooman, especially when he’ not on that dang computer. I think he spends too much time on Facebook (FB); you’d think he was a teenager being on FB so much, but he did put my picture on it to welcome me into the family. Lots of people said how adorable I was. I’m even a star on FB now.
Well, I’d better go for now; FD wants to get on the computer. As I said, he needs to buy me my own laptop. Anyway, have a great day and “see you on FB.”
October 8, 2026
Hi everyone, it’s me, Trapper. Sorry I’m just writing now, but Foster Dad (FD) has been on the computer non-stop. It’s been a nice couple of days here, as I’m getting used to FD’s schedule and he’s getting used to mine. I did have to go to the vet on Monday, 10/5/2026. Mon Dieu, that was quite an event. The vet gave me 2 shots (yuck) and also took x-rays. I’m now radioactive (ha-ha). I was a good boy, though, but I still don’t like shots, but at least I got to ride in the car.
I’m getting used to my new home with FD. He feeds me well, and I love the treats (All American made; he says he won’t give his doggies anything else). FD likes to play a little game with me to see how much I want my treat. He holds it tight in his fingers to see if I get it from him. I win every time. We get visitors sometimes; they pet me and make a fuss over me. While FD can’t get down on the floor, the people visiting do. They play with me, and I get really happy. Today (10/8/2026), we had 4 visitors, and they all made a fuss over me and got down on the floor with me.
FD says that he’s going to contact the dog walkers next week to take me on a walk. I can’t wait. I am very friendly, playful, and active for my age. FD thinks I’m smart and even trainable; see, you can teach an old dog new tricks. I can sit and give my paw, and FD is teaching me “down” to lie down. I’m getting better at it.
I’m a good boy when I need to go out. I bark and let FD know, and he lets me out in the yard. Yesterday, I woke him twice so I could go out. Once at 12:30 AM and then again at 7:30 AM. We now know who’s in charge. LOL. I also bark when my water bowl is empty. I love water.
FD bought me a new doggie bed for the den. It’s fluffy and has a pillow all around so I can rest my head up a little higher. I like it. FD says that he’s gonna wash the cover on the old one and put it in the bedroom.
Well, gotta go; FD needs to use the computer again. Bye for now. Check out a couple new pictures.
October 3, 2026
My 100-mile journey to my new foster dad’s (FD’s) house was an event where I rode in 3 different cars. The people driving me were so nice, and when we changed cars, they took me for a walk so I could pee, stretch my legs, and get a drink of water. I arrived at my FD’s house (his name is Chuck) on October 1, 2026.
My arrival day was quite interesting. FD’s house was like a 3-ring circus compared to what I’m used to. Everyone who came in was very nice to me and pet me, but I was still a little frightened. One lady named Sharon sat down on the floor with me, talked to me very nicely, was petting me gently, and made me feel at ease. I liked the attention and love.
My FD has a house with almost no steps, which is good for me because sometimes, my back legs hurt. He does have a nice deck but has 4 short (low) steps into the yard. I can get down the steps ok, but coming up is a little more difficult. My FD is kind and encourages me and helps me get up those, even though he has trouble walking too.
Getting ready for bed that first night was quite a chore. FD was in the kitchen, and he gave 2 pieces of cheese as a treat. I guess I was kind of overstimulated from the day I had, that my stomach was upset, and I threw up my dinner and the cheese on FD’s new carpet. He didn’t scold me but just said, “Oh Trapper, you poor baby, I guess you had too much excitement for your first day.” After he cleaned them up, yes, I threw up twice in 2 different spots, and we went to bed. FD has a loveseat in his bedroom, as well as a really nice dog bed. I had my choice, plus he has real soft carpet on his floor. I was like Goldilocks trying them all out to see which one I liked.
FD was watching TV, and I laid down next to his bed but then stood up and barked at him. He asked me if I wanted to go out, and I did. When I finally came inside, he patted my head and said, “Good boy!” Then we went to bed. I was like Goldilocks again, but I settled on the loveseat. It was so soft, a lot better than the hard floor. Well, I gotta go because Dad just came back into the den and will need to get on his computer, so bye for now.
