Trapper Yellow Labrador Retriever Male 13 Years Old ID #3690
Hi everyone, my name is Trapper. I’m a 13-year-old young yellow lab, looking for my forever home. I posted some pictures of me so you can see what a good boy I am. I lived with my first family since I was a puppy, but my dad passed away, and my mom said she is “not a dog person.” So, I couldn’t stay with her any longer. I was a good boy and was house trained. I always let my dog mom know when I wanted to go out by barking. We went on walks each day just so I could pee and poop. Leaving the only home I have ever known made me sad, but now that I’m in a new place, I think it’s all going to be for the best. Please read the blog from the bottom up.

Hi everybody, it’s just me, Trapper; it’s been a while since I wrote last, but my Foster Dad (FD) is always on that dang computer. How’s a guy supposed to write to his fans? I think FD should buy me my own laptop. Anyway, it’s been a roller coaster of fun here. Last Saturday, the dog walkers that Dad hired came to take me for my first walk. I was so excited; when we returned, they told FD that I was such a good boy. I only pulled a little bit once when there was something I wanted to sniff. I loved going for a walk. I was out for about 25 minutes, and for a spry, playful old guy like me, I did really well.
This week I went for 2 walks so far. I love going on walks. I now have a new harness and collar for when I go for walks. I’m like the king of the neighborhood with my new ensemble. The other day, my dog walker brought her 2 grandchildren with her. I did bark just to say hello, but we had fun on our walk. I love the kiddies. When we came home, they each gave me a treat. Last night, Auntie Deb took me for a walk in the evening. I loved it. I pee’d 3 times and pooped twice. I really like those evening walks.
I do like my new house and love my FD. I follow him around a lot, and when I find him, I usually lie down near him.
He’s pretty cool for an old guy like me. I bark at everything, which is good. I let FD know when I need to go out (I love doing it to him around 3:00 AM when he has “bedhead,” but don’t do it all the time; just enough to let him know who’s in charge; LOL). We communicate pretty well. I let him know when I’m hungry or need my water bowl filled (I love water and FD gives me the good stuff he buys by the case), when someone comes to the door, and sometimes just to make sure he’s awake sitting at his desk. I’m kind of a really good watchdog too. He sometimes calls me “Trapper the Rapper.”
I’m getting better at hand signals. I’m pretty good at “sit,” “down” (to lie down), “paw,” and a hand-sweeping motion when FD wants me to go somewhere in the house. I’m a pretty smart guy for my age. I may be 13, but that’s just a number. I don’t act like what some would call an “ole man.”
I’m a funny boy sometimes. Last night Dad gave me a frozen doggie ice cream while we were in the kitchen. It was soooooo good. At one point I picked up the cup and took it to the living room to finish eating it. I heard FD say “not on the new carpet,” and he came over to take it from me and take it back into the kitchen. I was having no part of that. I picked up the whole cup and ran into the den to finish it. I wasn’t going to let him have it until it was all finished, as it was delish. FD just looked at me and said, “You little stinker.” I didn’t care, as I was able to finish my ice cream in peace, and the den doesn’t have new carpet.
I like to play tug-o-war. FD bought me a new one, and we have lots of fun with it. I also have an old one we play with as well.
I am really strong for my age and have good teeth. When FD tries to take it from me. I hold onto it and sometimes even get a better grip. I may be 13 years young, but I do like to play and be around my hooman, especially when he’ not on that dang computer. I think he spends too much time on Facebook (FB); you’d think he was a teenager being on FB so much, but he did put my picture on it to welcome me into the family. Lots of people said how adorable I was. I’m even a star on FB now.
Well, I’d better go for now; FD wants to get on the computer. As I said, he needs to buy me my own laptop. Anyway, have a great day and “see you on FB.”

Hi everyone, it’s me, Trapper. Sorry I’m just writing now, but Foster Dad (FD) has been on the computer non-stop. It’s been a nice couple of days here, as I’m getting used to FD’s schedule and he’s getting used to mine. I did have to go to the vet on Monday, 10/5/2026. Mon Dieu, that was quite an event. The vet gave me 2 shots (yuck) and also took x-rays. I’m now radioactive (ha-ha). I was a good boy, though, but I still don’t like shots, but at least I got to ride in the car.
I’m getting used to my new home with FD. He feeds me well, and I love the treats (All American made; he says he won’t give his doggies anything else). FD likes to play a little game with me to see how much I want my treat. He holds it tight in his fingers to see if I get it from him. I win every time. We get visitors sometimes; they pet me and make a fuss over me. While FD can’t get down on the floor, the people visiting do. They play with me, and I get really happy. Today (10/8/2026), we had 4 visitors, and they all made a fuss over me and got down on the floor with me.
FD says that he’s going to contact the dog walkers next week to take me on a walk. I can’t wait. I am very friendly, playful, and active for my age. FD thinks I’m smart and even trainable; see, you can teach an old dog new tricks. I can sit and give my paw, and FD is teaching me “down” to lie down. I’m getting better at it.
I’m a good boy when I need to go out. I bark and let FD know, and he lets me out in the yard. Yesterday, I woke him twice so I could go out. Once at 12:30 AM and then again at 7:30 AM. We now know who’s in charge. LOL. I also bark when my water bowl is empty. I love water.
FD bought me a new doggie bed for the den. It’s fluffy and has a pillow all around so I can rest my head up a little higher. I like it. FD says that he’s gonna wash the cover on the old one and put it in the bedroom.
Well, gotta go; FD needs to use the computer again. Bye for now. Check out a couple new pictures.

My 100-mile journey to my new foster dad’s (FD’s) house was an event where I rode in 3 different cars. The people driving me were so nice, and when we changed cars, they took me for a walk so I could pee, stretch my legs, and get a drink of water. I arrived at my FD’s house (his name is Chuck) on October 1, 2026.
My arrival day was quite interesting. FD’s house was like a 3-ring circus compared to what I’m used to. Everyone who came in was very nice to me and pet me, but I was still a little frightened. One lady named Sharon sat down on the floor with me, talked to me very nicely, was petting me gently, and made me feel at ease. I liked the attention and love.
My FD has a house with almost no steps, which is good for me because sometimes, my back legs hurt. He does have a nice deck but has 4 short (low) steps into the yard. I can get down the steps ok, but coming up is a little more difficult. My FD is kind and encourages me and helps me get up those, even though he has trouble walking too.
Getting ready for bed that first night was quite a chore. FD was in the kitchen, and he gave 2 pieces of cheese as a treat. I guess I was kind of overstimulated from the day I had, that my stomach was upset, and I threw up my dinner and the cheese on FD’s new carpet. He didn’t scold me but just said, “Oh Trapper, you poor baby, I guess you had too much excitement for your first day.” After he cleaned them up, yes, I threw up twice in 2 different spots, and we went to bed. FD has a loveseat in his bedroom, as well as a really nice dog bed. I had my choice, plus he has real soft carpet on his floor. I was like Goldilocks trying them all out to see which one I liked.
FD was watching TV, and I laid down next to his bed but then stood up and barked at him. He asked me if I wanted to go out, and I did. When I finally came inside, he patted my head and said, “Good boy!” Then we went to bed. I was like Goldilocks again, but I settled on the loveseat. It was so soft, a lot better than the hard floor. Well, I gotta go because Dad just came back into the den and will need to get on his computer, so bye for now.
