Lanie Black Labrador Retriever Female 9 Years Old ID #3590
Meet Lanie! Lanie is a sweet 9.5 year old pure bred black Labrador who weighs in at 107lbs. Lanie’s owner was recently hospitalized so Lanie and her fur brother Harvey were living alone in the house. Luckily, the owner’s grand-daughter was able to check in on them once a day, and the owner’s son decided to reach out to Brookline for help. Lanie was in need of some medical care for an infected paw and ears, and to bring her UTD on her vaccinations. Lanie is now safe in a Brookline foster home. Please read her blog from the bottom up to learn more about her time in foster care.

Lanie had a busy weekend with her foster family! Friday evening, she went to a brewery with her foster parents. There were some other dogs there she was interested in sniffing, but the BBQ truck was even better for sniffing! Lanie begged with her eyes as her foster parents ate, and was quick to catch anything that fell on the floor.
On Saturday, Lanie helped do some yard work, but it was very warm. Her foster parents got out the kiddie pool to see if she would like it. She was unsure at first and just thought it might be a giant water bowl, but once she got her feet wet, she realized how refreshing it felt.
On Easter Sunday, Lanie went for a car ride to see her foster parents’ family. Lanie met the resident dog named Princess there during the visit. They sniffed and barked a little, but did very well walking together.
Lanie was very tired from her busy weekend, and as soon as she got home, she got on the bed to rest up.

Lanie had a fun weekend with her new foster family. On Saturday, the weather wasn’t too nice, so we went to a local brewery where she was a very good girl and got a lot of attention.
After the brewery and a ride in the car, it was nap time on the sofa. On Sunday, Lanie helped her foster dad in the yard doing some yard work. She was a very good supervisor!
She was enjoying the sun and decided to roll around in the grass.
Lanie loves going on walks and is still getting comfortable with her foster kitty siblings (they can be scary sometimes and move quickly!) She was sleeping overnight on the couch but has become more attached to her foster parents and now needs to sleep in the same room with them. She is conquering going up and down the steps a lot better also

Lanie is settling in great in her foster home. The first night, she discovered the couch right away and slept all night, snoring loudly.
On Monday, she helped her foster mom work all day at home in the office while taking many naps.
Lanie does not like to be left alone and wanted to follow her foster mom everywhere, even during bathroom breaks. After work, she got a nice bath, which she did not seem to mind as long as she was getting treats.
After work on Tuesday, Lanie went for a nice walk around the neighborhood, which will gradually be increased in distance to help her in her weight loss journey. Lanie can be very playful and likes to hand squeaky toys to her foster parents to play with.
Lanie is still a little unsure of her kitty foster siblings and will bark at them if they stare at her too long. We are hoping they become friends soon.
Now that Lanie is getting more comfortable in her foster home, she will be focusing on losing weight, reinforcing potty training, and working on her separation anxiety.
